Bangkok Betty has swooped into Mosman and opened up a fabulous new Thai restaurant. Whilst I’m not sure if Betty actually exists she certainly has a great team keeping things running smoothly and serving up tasty thai.

In keeping with the Bangkok Betty name, all dishes take on a whimsical name. It’s funny how old Thai favourites suddenly sound even more appealing when given a new name. Dishes on the menu include; Betty Loves Bling (chicken and prawn dumplings), Betty’s on a Roll (rice paper rolls), Tummy Yummy Spicy Soup, Green with Envy (Thai Green curry), Betty and the Beanstalk etc.
We order the dumplings and curry puffs for entree, followed by three mains; Crispy Crackle (dry curry dish with stir fried crispy pork belly), Green with Envy (chicken green curry) and Pumpkin Passion (pumpkin, basil stir fry). It’s more than enough for the three of us, and not a thing is left over. One word of warning though – the tables are small. Three of us sat at a four seater table and by the time the 3 dishes were served space was at a premium
Bangkok Betty is everything you want in a local Thai, and even if you’re not local to Mosman it’s worth the visit.

Grabbing a bottle of wine from the bottle shop nearby with a nice dinner at Bangkok Betty is absolutely divine. I had dinner there for a couple of times and I still want to go back more often. Tofu Nirvana is a good start. Tofu is well-marinated and grilled, served with gorgeous satay sauce (probably the best in town). Crispy pork belly and Pineapple Duck are tasty and the duck is perfectly cooked. I wish i could visit there again to try more dishes. The whimsical food name make u more enjoyable. Advanced booking is recommended esp on Fri & Sat nights. Also home-delivery is very fast and food is still hot upon delivery. Thumbs up!
Highly recommended. This has become my number one favourite Thai restaurant in Sydney. This little gem of a restaurant won’t stay a secret for much longer. The food is just as good as, or even better, than some of the finest cuisine you will sample in Bangkok. Although there is nothing on the menu that I wouldn’t try again (and again), a new dish, ‘She Sells Seashells’ (a soft shell crab dish topped with a green mango salad) is to-die-for. There are lots of healthy alternatives for vegetarians & gluten-free foodies. ‘Betty’s on a Roll’ are fresh, rice paper rolls filled with prawns and crunchy vegetables. ‘Betty and the Beanstalk’ comes with lots of fresh vegetables and tofu if you feel like a break from meat. Then there is ‘Tofu Nirvana’ covered in peanut sauce made from freshly ground peanuts and ‘Nuts About Cashews’, a stir fry with a tantalizing oyster sauce. Of course, if you like your meat, then ‘Betty at the Barbie’ or ‘Mosman Massaman’ will satisfy your cravings. The food definitely tastes wholesome and different to everywhere else I have eaten. Even the sauces taste home made. This is not one of those places where the stir fries only hit the wok for two seconds. Betty puts a lot of care and love into the food and you can taste it (although I am yet to see Betty!) The food is perfect for sharing with friends and the place is BYO (bottle shop across the road). The atmosphere at Bangkok Betty is so comfortable, you and your friends will want to linger until the chefs lock up late at night. Make sure you save some space for ‘Mango Fandango’ – fresh slices of mango with hot sweet sticky rice sprinkled with mung beans and with and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on the side. This dessert is so delicious, it doesn’t matter that it is the only dessert on the menu. Bangkok Betty is the sort of place where the food is so good, you’ll want to lick the dishes clean. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
